WT020 - ADAM'S PEAK

Adam's Peak was by far the most challenging hike I ever did. Also known as Sri Pada, the sacred footprint, the 2243m high mountain is located about one hour away from Hatton and is easily reachable by taxi or tuk tuk. The pilgrimage climb includes more than 5500 steps up, some shops on the way and a Buddhist temple at the summit. The peak got extremely famous for its sunrise, but for that you have to start hiking around 2 am and it can take more than 4 hours going up, plus 2,5 hours down. For our bad luck, we missed the entrance to the correct path and ended up in another mountain close by. We lost 2 precious hours in the middle of tea fields until we realised, by meeting another couple, it was the wrong trail. Nevertheless an experience to remember! After this episode we just wanted to eat breakfast and chill at the guest house - Rock View Rest - in the sound of its private waterfall.
