WT017 - SURF SPOT

Continuing with our deserved rest, we took the same bus (the Nº2) further to Koggala and stayed in the Kabalana beach area at the Palm Paradise Bungalows by chance. We couldn’t find the cheap hostel we googled before and then, while wandering around, we found the bungalows with direct view to the ocean, plus an amazing restaurant.

They also had motorbikes to rent and that’s what we did. Next day we made our way until Matara, passing by Weligama and Mirissa, both waterfronts towns with fantastic beaches, but regrettably too touristic for us to stay.

The Paravi Duwa, located in Matara and directly in front of the Fort, is a scenic tranquil island of worship that totally deserves a small stop.

The complete beach line is perfect for surfing, and even Red Bull chose Kabalana as a surf point. Here the beginners can also learn, having a few local surf schools to look after them.

Next Stop: Haputale, Sri Lanka
