My favourite of the three Baltic capitals - Vilnius - is an old looking but trendy city. Located in the southeast part of Lithuania, this city is for the eye-catcher full of surprises. You can expect easygoing people, friendly clean streets, as well as a religious, cultural and artistic diversity. One of the main places no one should miss is the Republic of Užupis. Just on the other side of the Vilnia river and crossable by a short bridge, this neighbourhood is relatively famous for its bohemic atmosphere and artistic nature. Walking through it, you'll find different kinds of art displayed, some cafés and shops, and the most important - its Constitution. The 41 articles of the Republic's constitution can be found in the Paupio Street and are translated in 25 languages. Most articles value of course liberty, freedom of expression, individuality, the everyman's rights. Up on the hill and behind the Vilnius Cathedral in the old town, the castle complex is perfect for a 360º panorama view of the whole city, and also some up-hill training. From there, the Three Crosses, already part of the city's skyline, can also be seen and the other way around.
Tip: do a free city tour! You will meet nice tour guides and get more understanding about the places you are visiting.
