Along the Alba River and about one hour by train southeast from Dresden, Germany, there's a small hiking trail called Bastei. This is a major landmark of the Saxon Switzerland National Park, also not that far away from Czech Republic, and brings in a lot of german tourists as well as foreigners to the region. The trail itself its not difficult and quite short, about 4,6km and 215m high, and takes up max. 2 hours to do a full round. Also good for families with kids. Starting from the main station Kurort Rathen, you'll be passing by a tourist office, where you can grab a map and ask for some tipps. Keep walking in direction of the river and the old ferry that will take you to the other side, so you can start your hiking tour. The main goal is, of course, to reach the Bastei Bridge, famous for its towering rock shape and the impressive views of the valley and ground below. The whole area is protected, so pay attention to the trees, lakes and rock formations that will get you inspired and also not lost.
Note: The hike is also possible in the opposite direction, but you'll deal with over 600 steps uphill.
