CITY OF NATURAL WONDERS

Stavanger is a not-so-small coast town, located on the southwest corner of Norway and south from the second biggest Norwegian city - Bergen. One of the main reasons for visitors (and for me) going there is of course the access to the Pulpit Rock trail (already published in this blog). The city is blessed with a lot of natural tracks, water and islands nearby, as well as history, giving it an identity of its own. The city centre is best known for its full-coloured houses and the old medieval Cathedral with the Breiavatnet Lake in front. Besides this, you can also visit the Norwegian Petroleum Museum in the harbour, an architecture landmark in the city, and the fish markets which will make you salivate for some good fresh sushi. Also near the water, on the other side from the museum, is the Watchmen's Museum in the Valberg Tower which can facilitate good harbour and city views. But even though the city has its own flare, the thing that will make you visit this part of Norway are the fjords. Due to this fact, the landing at the airport is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. The view of the mountains and water circling the city will make you want to start your adventure.

About a 30min drive south from Stavanger, completely on the opposite side, there's another historic landmark called Sverd i fjell. It consists of 3 10m-tall swords made in memory to the 872 Battle of Hafrsfjord.
