QUICK STOP ON A RAINY DAY

My passage through Shkodër was quite short and unfortunately not enough. I was traveling to Tirana from Podgorica in Montenegro by bus when I decided to make a quick stop and see a bit of this town. Since transportation and almost everything else in Albania is simply put cheap, there was no budget damage here. Tickets are easy to buy in the main stations, or direct in the bus, and from Shkodër to Tirana takes about 2 hours for the price of 2€. Busses usually run every hour or when the bus drivers decide to. The city centre is not full with monuments or places to visit but allows a nice exploring walk. The concept of tourism is still pretty much unknown but it can be only a matter of time. Sadly I did miss the most famous landmark - the Rozafa Castle - a stone castle in a hilltop of an archeological park located south from the city and between the Bojana and Drin rivers. I expect to come back with more time and when the rain stops.
