A FAIRYTALE ISLET

The Schwerin Castle is quite impressive to look at, either from the other side of its bridge or from its interior courtyard, giving it the feeling of a fairytale site. At the time I was there, some renovation works were on going but I was luckily able to visit the premises due to an open doors day event to the public. Schwerin is located about 45min by train and south from the city Wismar. Walking from the castle in direction to the city centre, you will notice the many green areas around the islet, where locals can enjoy the views, hang around and probably do some sports. The charming cobbled streets as well as the colourful buildings give the small city an identity of its own. And its cleanliness is total flawless. I never saw a paper or even a leaf outside its place. I recommend visiting the Schweriner Cathedral and to not miss the Enge Straßen, or narrow streets in english, where old German wood framing houses still exist.
