TOKYO - AROUND HARAJUKU / UENO

Back in Harajuku and more specifically in the famous Takeshita Street for some weird shopping. But not only, The Meiji Shrine and the adjacent Yoyogi Park are just on the other side and together make up a large forested area within the densely built-up city.

Speaking about parks, the Ueno Onshi Park is a spacious public park of about 54 ha. in the district of Taitō, and a really cool one to explore and spend quality time as a family or with friends. Its many facilities - like the Shinobazuno Pond and its shrine, the Ueno Toshogu and the Gojoten Shrines, the Zoo and dozens of museums make the time fly and are just a walk way. Carousels, boat rides, picnic zones and lost statues are also part of the fun. North from Tokyo's National Museum Garden, you'll find the Yanaka Cemetery and the hundred sanctuaries around it. Literally there's no way to see them all. In one section of the cemetery lies the Tokugawa Family Graveyard. A pedestrian shopping street like the one in Harajuku is also in the vicinity, called Yanaka Ginza, and has delicious street food to sell and friendly cats to play with.
