ROOFTOP VIEWS

Like many other cities around the world, Osaka has a poor neighbourhood area which I found photo wise quite appealing. It gives a degree of reality besides all the touristic things we see. You can meet locals, speak with them until a certain level and observe their daily life. Osaka is a large city and known to be Japan's financial centre. Due to that fact several high buildings, broad avenues and many businesses characterise the city's skyline and night view. The unbelievable number of lights and name brands only help to complete the whole idea. However, most cities that look into the future also have a past. The iconic and restored Osaka Castle is located in the north side of the Chuo neighbourhood and has a big park as it surroundings. A shrine and a great hall for events can also be found there. The top of the castle offers tourists beautiful panoramic viewpoints over the city. Another location that is famous for its sky-views is the Hep Five Ferris Wheel, a bright red giant wheel on top of a shopping complex. Its total height of 106m above ground will get you a splendid view of downtown, of Osaka's harbour, and all the way out to Mount Ikoma. For the Pokémon and anime fandom, there's a Pokémon Store in almost every big Japanese city and I had the opportunity to visit the one in Osaka. Located in front of the main station, on the top floor of the south building (shopping centre), it is possible to buy all kinds of related Pokémon merchandising, but attention that photos are not "allowed".
