THE PISSING MAN

My least favourite of the 3 main Scandinavian cities, Helsinki sure offers entertainment, funny statues and many cultural monuments. The Bad Bad Boy figure is a photo magnet and attract a lot of tourists who wish to make amusing selfies. Enjoying also a good position in the harbour is the market square, with fresh food and handmade arts and crafts, and the stunning Uspenski Cathedral, which is totally worth a small peek. I arrived in the city harbour after a 3,5h ferry trip from Tallinn, leaving the Baltic countries behind. It was actually quite nice, the ferry allows you to relax and enjoy the amazing views of several small islands "lost" between the two countries. In the city centre, restaurants, theaters, shopping streets and elegant buildings are everywhere. Just look at the Senate Square and the main Cathedral! Organisation and cleanliness are the two powerful words. Unfortunately for me, this was a city where I felt unmotivated to explore each corner. I also felt that the city does not have that much to discover (probably just my feeling). Nonetheless, I quite liked the Sibelius Monument and the district around it - Töölö - which is located about 10-15min drive by train from the central station. Between both areas, the big lake Töölönlahti and its green surroundings, multiple museums like the Kiasma and the conference hall Finlandia are a good choice for keeping you busy.
