THE TOP OF GERMANY

For those who don't know, Zugspitze is considered the top of Germany. Being the highest mountain in the Alps from Germany's side, this place is popular both in winter and in summer, for its landscape and sport nature. You can reach it by driving through Bavaria or by train, for example from Munich's central station. The closest towns, Garmisch-Partenkirchen or Grainau, bid multiple accommodations and tips to enjoy some day-trips. To get to the top of 2950m, you'll have to take different cable cars, either from Austria's (Tirol) or Germany's side and that costs around 50-60€. Crossing the border is also an option for those who wish to visit both countries.

Not that far away, tourists can also visit the Große Olympiaschanze, an old ski jumping hill from the winter olympic games, which is still active, or if preferred the Partnachklamm. This place consists of a trekking path through the mountains and a lot of waterfalls (choose a rainy day for that!), which run from the top and above your head.

Tip: don't forget your rainy boots and jacket!
