EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE 2019

Plovdiv, the next European Capital of Culture 2019, is a wonderful, cheap and unknown destination. Most people would not trust themselves in the east European sector, perhaps because of its recent history and also lack of many things, like information, transportation, communication, things that are easily accessible in other European cities. Nevertheless, I must confess that I quite enjoyed the time and atmosphere there. This not so young Bulgarian city is full of colour, trendy cafés, hippie corners and walkable shopping streets. However, there's more. Walking up the old town, you'll be fascinated by the buildings and the small alleys that take you to the top of one of the seven hills - Nebet Tepe. Yes, this city is famous for having seven hills - there's also a legend about it. From this point on, you can behold the city from above and visit some ruins, as well as the ancient Roman theater.
